Ace-031, also known as ACVR2B, is a soluble form of the IIB type activin receptor that is an inhibitor of myostatin and other naturally occurring proteins that limit muscle growth. This compound was genetically developed to bind to myostatin before it can bind to the receptor and stop muscle growth. The two Biopharma companies that worked on this compound are Acceleron and Shire.

GHRP-2 is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, white lyophilized powder intended for subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, after reconstitution with sterile Water for Injection (0,3% m-Cresol).
Mechanism of action
ACE-031 is a protein thatâ€˜s being investigated to determine if it can be used for therapeutical purpose for building muscle and enhancing the strengh of test subjects. It does this by allowing molecules to bind to cell surface receptors – this is also where it signals through.
These cell surface receptors are known as Activin Receptor Type II B. ACE-031 is recombinant fusion protein that is produced when a portion of the ACVR2B receptor and a part of the standart antibody are joined together. This then creates a decoy version of ACVR2B that circulates and eliminates proteins like GDF-8 (alsno known as myostatin) and other molecules that limit the muscle's strength of growth.
The proteins in the TGF-8 superfamily are used to regulate muscle growth. These act as the on and off switch for the production of muscles. In order to stop muscle growth , several molecules, such as GDF-8, intermingle with the ACVR2B receptor, which stops the production of muscle. When these off switches arenâ€˜t present , the muscle increase in mass radically.
ACE-031 could have the following side effects:
- Water Retention
- Bleeding from the nose
- Increased Hunger
- Reactions at injection site
Instructions for reconstitution
The injection is given into the sub-cutaneous layer which includes adipose tissue (fat).
If you are using insulin syringes which have short needles, you will need to enter the skin at 90°. to the skin, otherwise you can inject as shown in the illustration above with a 29 or 30 gauge, 0.5" needle.
Recommended dosage of ACE-031: 500 – 1.000 mcg twice a week
- This product can be used not more than 3 years from the production date (see box).
- After reconstitution, may be stored for a maximum of 14 days in a refrigirator at 2°C – 8°C.
- Store vials in an upright position.
- Store in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Keep in the outer carton in order to protect from light.
- For one month can be stored at room temperature.
ACE-031 peptide is a myostatin inhibitor protein that is produced to imitate a natural receptor involved in controlling muscle mass, strength and function. ACE-031 works as a mysotatin blocker by binding myostatin and additional proteins that regulate the function of myostatin. Myostatin is an important protein that works to prevent the growth and development of muscle cells . Animals such as the Belgian blue bull produce less myostatin than other breeds of cow and this is responsible for the breeds extremely lean, hyper-sculpted, ultra-muscular physique due to an increased number of muscle fibres . ACE-031 works by binding myostatin from circulation, which prevents it from binding to its own receptors . These receptors normally function to switch off muscle growth when myostatin is bound, but because the binding is blocked by ACE-31 then muscle growth can continue unrestricted. Animal and human studies using ACE-031 showed increases in lean muscle mass and muscle volume, with beneficial effects on fat and bone biomarkers . Several pharmaceutical companies are also investigating ACE-031 as a treatment for several muscle-wasting disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). ACE-031 was concluded to be a promising therapeutic approach for treating DMD  and myostatin inhibition was shown to be a promising potential therapy in the treatment of ALS .
ACE-031 is packaged into vials as a powder and needs to be completely dissolved in bacteriostatic water. The water should be injected directly into the vial. The vial should not be shaken, but can be gently rotated in order to dissolve any remaining powder. ACE-031 1 mg can be dissolved by adding 1 ml of water to provide 1 mg of ACE-031 in every 1 ml of solution. This solution can be injected in one single dose for maximum efficacy or split into several smaller doses. The ACE-031 solution should be stored in the fridge for up to one month. For optimal growth of lean muscle mass, ACE-031 dosage can be injected up to 3 mg/kg. Since the half-life of ACE-031 is up to 15 days  then this dosage should not be exceeded within a two-week period. Subcutaneous or intramuscular injections are optimal when administering these peptides.
Treatment with ACE-031 up to 3 mg/kg was shown to be safe and well tolerated in healthy individuals . All side effects that have been reported using ACE-031 at these concentrations are mild and the most common side effect is headache.
